Spring loaded brass center punch
I have used this punch to help pin rods for 15 years and it has worked flawlessly. Before using a center punch I broke a lot of drill bits. The punch creates a perfect dimple in the ferrule that gives the drill bit a place to start. Without that dimple the bit will wander and when any pressure is applied it will break.
